Faster processor; improved graphics; better battery life.
Still no SD card slot; might be time for Apple to switch to 16:9 aspect ratio displays.
Apple slightly revamps its basic MacBook with improvements under the hood, but keeps the design and price the same, which makes the new MacBook tough to beat as a back-to-school laptop.

My last new Mac was a bondi blue iBook about 10 years ago. It was awesome, and I was in love. That one met it's demise at the paws of a cat and a glass of milk. The mid-2010 MacBook is even better (first order of business is a keyboard skin!). It's my new best friend. Standard configuration has plenty of speed and hard drive space to keep me happy. This is the first computer I've ever had where the standard RAM was actually adequate. The programs are fabulous and intuitive. The laptop itself is lovely to look at yet understated at the same time. There's still plenty of room to upgrade if you want to as well, not to mention all the bags, skins, keyboard protectors, etc. to customize to your own taste. The only downside I can see is the battery is internal and not meant to be replaced by the user but taken to an authorized Apple Tech when it needs replacement. Not a bad trade off for 10 hours of battery time though, and I'm sure some of us will try the battery replacement on our own anyway. I was lucky enough to get a nice one used for a good price, but even at the off the shelf $999 this machine is well worth it.
I was skeptical when I bought this Apple laptop because the description said it was recently leased to Apple, I assume it was used in the Apple store as a demo. But, when I got it in the mail, WOW! I was very surprised, it was perfect, no blemishes of any kind. It looked like it was right out-of-the-box new! I would urge anyone who wants to buy a Mac and doesn't want to pay the high price for a brand new one to buy one of these laptops.
I am VERY PLEASED!
I bought mine on the Ebay Daily Deals and it came from Instantreplayelectronics.
I am sooo happy with it. It also came with Office 2008 already installed on it too, BONUS!
It works great! I have been using it for about a week now and I have not found anything wrong with it as yet.
I am EXTREMELY PLEASED!!
Cristal clear screen, full sized keyboard, Fast & simple to use. It blows any IBM compatible in it's class out of the water in my opinion. I was always hesitant to buy an apple in the past because I'm addicted to Micro$oft but with Apple using Intel now I don't need to pick, YES you can have native 'Windows' on your Apple Computer! That said I have started using OS X more than 7, in my opinion OS X even handles SMB/Samba workgroups better than many versions of Windows out of the box. So many times I would boot up an IBM clone and the system would not see other windows PCs on the network, every time I boot OS X it finds ALL my Windows PCs!
Pros: Bright LED Screen, Faster, Better body design compared to the previous macbooks that crack around the keyboard and trackpad.
Cons: No remote sensor, No firewire port.
This is good for doing homework, basic word processing and web surfing or someone just starting out with macs. If you're a little more advanced as far as movie making and other graphic arts a macbook pro would probably be better. I hope to upgrade to one myself.
My macbook died and I couldn't afford a new pro, so I bought this refurbished macbook. It works better than my old one! Fast, great battery life, and the case looks brand new (no chips anywhere). Very happy with this product! Great that it came with office and iwork already installed because those programs are expensive.
