I have just recently decided to cross the Win/Mac divide. I must admit, I am not disappointed. This device gives you the needed caacity to handle basic Mac/Apple tasks and also allows you to continue to hang on to your Windows fix via the BootCamp(dual Boot) option. All this without breaking the bank (just under 1000 dls).
There is a great deal of support online for those of us starting out with Macs and it did not take me (a non tech-savy user) long to understand and use these laptops.
If you are considering a Mac, but NEED Windows for some reason, try this model out. You will feel like the specs you have are slighty powered up compared to a traditional Win laptop with the same tech specs.
I got mine at just under 650 dls and it has a Dual Core 2.0Ghz CPU, 2GB Ram and 250GB HD. It really feels like a 2.+ Dual Core, 3 Gb Ram Machine. And I am running Win Vista/Mac 10.5
First I want to say that I'm new to the apple world and i was looking for a used clean, functional laptop.I already owned a iPhone & iPad so I kinda have some experience with apple.I payed a good a price for my white Mac book 2008,it looked good out off the box.The only issue I had was I got laptop on Saturday and only had 3 days before i could send it back. The first problem I had was the wifi card didn't work right from the start. When I bought the Mac book they claimed they tested all parts of the laptop and it was in working functional condition. After pulling my hair out and buying wifi boosters, moving my router closer to where I would be using the laptop,I even went to the apple store twice they couldn't do anything for me.Now i'am 5 days in and the 3 days that I has is now gone, now i'am stuck.I finally went to a local 3rd party apple dealer and he replaced my wifi card and now it's works like a charm...The point of this is when they state all parts have been checked and in working condition be aware. Also check the return policy and make sure u have more than 3 days to try the product out.Over all since I fix the wifi issue Thi upgraded to lion and it's still working fine no issues what so ever.I have dual core processor,120gb hard drive and it all works like a charm.I don't know many years I can get out of it but keep my fingers crossed.
This MacBook replaced a PowerBook G4, which began to fail on me. This one was about a year old and cost me about $600. It is typical Apple: stylish, very functional, very capable and very durable. It is fast and reliable. What else to say? It sets the standard for laptops in economy and dependability.
I purchased the 2008 MacBook because I was looking for an affordable notebook that could handle my high end production needs. Upon unboxing the device, I was a bit disappointed with it's small size. But as I powered it on, I was well pleased as it's capability was much greater than what I expected. The device is powered by intel Core 2 Duo processor, which makes boot time, page load, multi tasking & production a breeze. I was told that this device can take up to 6GB of ram, but it works flawlessly with 4GB.
As of now, I am getting 5hrs of battery life which means I can produce on the go without having to stop for a charge. On the otherhand, I don't like the plastic design. in time, the edges of the palm rest will crack and chip away & If you were to drop this device, you may need to buy a new one if you don't have a warranty. In addition, I don't really care for the on board webcam & neither do I like the fact that the on board mic is enabled by default (call me paranoid). In comparison to the older apple laptops, this device will run circles around the previous models without one hiccup.
To sum it up, this device is lightweight, easy to use & it is blazing fast. I can not wait to put it to the test in the field. Pro Tools testing was successful, now it's time to see how she does with Final Cut recording, editing & rendering. If I could go back to the date I purchased it, I don't think I would have went with anything else.
I purchased this laptop because I needed a mac for several programs I had to use for school. I already own an HP which I love. It's light and thin so compared to the macbook, it is a bit heavier and thicker. I know it is an older model so it's expected. I haven't had any problems thus far and this model comes with very limited basic programs. Anything I need (word, etc) I have to purchase or download it somewhere. I purchased it used and I feel that for the price and its condition, it was a great buy. It was stated that there were keyboard issues but I haven't experienced anything wrong. Since I haven't installed any programs yet I can't give a 5 star rating with performance because I don't know how it will handle the Adobe products with 1gb ram. I know some features can be upgraded but again its about the cost benefits. I hope this helps users. It really depends what you need it for.
