This display is huge (24" Wide x 20" High edge to edge). I actually laughed and said "wow" when I first saw it. The pictures don't give you a sense of how large the display really is. I now understand why graphics professionals use these. They are big, beautiful and render color excellently. If you have an ADC (Apple Display Connector) or the "DVI to ADC" adapter you will not be disappointed. Just make sure you have the desk space. I bought this Display to set next to my Apple Cube. It matches the styling of the Cube wonderfully but this display seems too big setting next to the Cube. Maybe it's just to new for me right now. Whenever I walk past it I just smile because it's sooo big. I have a 15", 17" and now a 23" Apple Display (acrylic style). They are all very beautiful monitors. You will love it if you get one.
1) Huge screen.
2) Excellent color.
3) ADC connector. Power, USB and Video all in 1 cord (sweet).
4) Unique tilt ability. The front legs stay in place while the back leg slides back or forward (spring loaded) depending on which way your tilting it.
5) Very stylish acrylic design.
6) A $2000 monitor for under $300 on eBay.
1) ADC connector (Both a pro and con) You need Apples ADC port on your computer or a $100 "DVI to ADC adapter.
2) Dust can get inside the clear acrylic housing and look bad. You must take apart the housing to clean this area. Something I haven't done yet.
If your computer has an ADC port and your desk is big enough, buy one. You'll love it.
The monitor is a classic and it's a wonderful Apple product. The picture is clean and clear.Plus the size of the monitor for the price, you can't be it !
LOVE: The size! This thing spoils you for anything smaller. LIKE: The overall design, as well as the crispness of the display. While it might be a few years old, I see hardly any difference with the screens in the 2008-2009 iMacs. DISLIKES: I'm not fond of the single 'foot' in the back. Then again, I broke the foot on a 17" Cinema Display, so maybe I'm gun-shy. They also seem to throw a bit more heat than a newer screen. But these are minor quibbles. I think I'll buy a back-up...
This monitor is awesome. It has a wonderful picture quality and is a great resolution(very sharp) for working with pictures/documents. The two biggest flaws it has are the weird ADC connection that is required to power it and pass video, and the weird hinge design, which plainly speaking a weak part of the design, because it seems they break for everyone.
I was able to grab mine for around $70 and with $50 for the ADC adapter, it works like a charm. My hinge is broken, but I just have it leaning up against the wall of my desk, so no problem.
This is the largest Apple monitor I know of that has the non-standard ADC (oval) monitor connector. It's just beautiful for my older Power Mac Dual G5. With an ADC-to-DVI adapter, it could be used with newer machines too. Since it's designed in the "clear bubble" style, it would blend even better with the G4 era Power Macs. Bought it used on eBay, love it, hope it lasts a long time.
