Movie synopsis
In this irreverent spoof of late-night television, humorous sketches mock varying forms of the media and other 1980s phonemena. Excruciatingly funny sketches include B.B. King making a public plea for "Blacks Without Soul," featuring the insipid talents of Don "No Soul" Simmons (David Alan Grier), as well as wacky spoofs of 1950s black-and-white films, including "Son of the Invisible Man," starring Ed Begley Jr. as the batty son who firmly believes he is as invisible as his father--except that everyone can see him--and "2 I.D.s," starring Rosanna Arquette and Steve Guttenberg as yuppies on a disastrous blind date. Everything from tabloid vignettes, 1950s sci-fi films, late-night porn, and infomercials are spoofed in this star-studded collection of skits.

New York Times - Janet Maslin (09/18/1987)

There are a lot of 80's stars. None more forgotten than Arsenio Hall. Non-political jokes about jews and blacks. I'm old school. I haven't been past Monique Gabrielle. I have one question-Did Sybil Danning fall off the face the Earth? I was watching VH1 a few years ago and they mentioned Steve Guttinberg made 4 movies that year. Cocoon wasn't one of them. Please see entire movie for Andrew Dice Clay. (Hickory Dickory Dock-you fill in the rest).

Amazon Women on the Moon (1987)

Review For: Amazon Women on the Moon (DVD, 2003)

This is one of the funniest movies you will see. It is a spoof of late night television:movies, commercials and tv shows. The 1998 Image Entertainment dvd was a pan and scan 1:33:1 transfer. This 2003 Universal dvd features an anamorphic widescreen 1:85:1 transfer and includes outtakes, deleted scenes and the original theatrical trailer.

A Classic, Funny Movie

Review For: Amazon Women on the Moon (DVD, 2003)

"Amazon Women On The Moon" is a classic, funny movie along the lines of "Kentucky Fried Movie" and "The Groove Tube." The movie is presented in skit type format and moves at a rib tickling pace from one comedy sketch to another. Interspersed among these comedy "shorts" is the lnog running sketch that gives the movie its name "Amazon Women On The Moon." If you're from my generation you'll recall those old, B movies that used to preview late on Friday and Saturday nights. You'll also remember how those movies would experience technical difficulties and the bland image (most often accompanied with elevator muzak) that sat interminably on your television screen. At times the skits seem like a visual time capsul into the 1980's... the clothes, the hairstyles, the hottest and brightest stars from that era who perform in the movie. If you own "Kentucky Fried Movie," and "The Groove Tube" this movie is a MUST have for your collection of twisted humor DVD's. Don't miss Carrie Fisher (in the last skit of the movie) in a role that puts Princess Leia to shame... LITERALLY!
