    In case you're curiouse

I've heard ALOT of bad reviews for this game in general, yet a number of people I've asked say its ok.

Basically, its a sequel to the old pc games, in which u play as the reoccuring charector, Edward Carnby, the twist is he wakes up not knowing who he is, or whats happening. all he knows is the building hes in is burning and collapsing, and theres stranges fissures that swallow people, and they come back possesed.

In short, if this were a stew, the ingrediants would be Evil Dead, End of Days, and Die Hard.

What I like is not only the visual appearance, but the ability to make anything with just about anything you pick up as you travel. You can make bombs, molotovs, sticky lights, and shrapnel grenades. Everything is in real time too, so it presents a challenge when in combat, especially if you're caught unprepared, which will happen.

Now, I hate to join the peanut gallery, but heres some of the negative impacts of the game. the vehicles, particularly when its required and an acion sequence. Just about anything can make you come to a dead hault, and I do mean dead, because you're either swallowed with the road collapsing, or these little bats pile on your care, lift you 30 feet in the air and let you nose dive to your death. And I've been killed at least 4 dozen times in both of those major sequences put together. Its as thoughthe developers got so invilved with the sequence itself they forgot to tune up the cars, no pun intended.

Also, I know the games rated M, and this is simulating a panick situation, but the king of curse words is said WAY too much. My thoughts, the F word (for you vigin ears out there.) shouldnt be said more than 6 times total in a game, otherwise it comes off as adolesent.

Meleeing has a new system. Grab something, lock on, and use the analog stick to swing. This actually isnt explained too well in game and can get frustrating. basically to swing overhead, you have to pull back first, then forward. You use this system to solve a number of puzzles too.

They offer you the choice to skip parts of the game. dont do it. trust me. look this gift horse in the mouth.

Lastly, this version of the game is called the Soundtrack Edition. And you might be like how I was thinking when I saw this. "Oh cool, I can get the soundtrack with the game! The music sounds good in the gameplay vids!" DONT BE FOOLED! The soundtrack edition only comes with 8 tracks, while the real soundtrack comes with 20 tracks. So if you're trying to get the game and soundtrack in one shot without spending much, its not gonna happen. Unless of course, you specificly want just those 8 tracks. (which are infact, very good!)

Now for some of the good stuff. I like the intese action. Anything you can think will make the situation worse, something even more troublesome comes and forces you to make quick descisions! Take a look on youtube for the first level, you'll see what I mean!

And this has something I've yet to feel in any other survival game, apart maybe F.E.A.R. & Project Origin. You WONT feel safe anywhere in the game. so you have to know what you're doing with your inventory, but you also need to keep moving. all doors can break, and some enemies come through the walls! And cars are far from safe since they'll pull you out the driver seat for a smack down if you're too slow.

My final opinion. Good game, cant wait to finish it. Its all about your own preferences. 8 out of 10 on my score sheet.

Even for free is too much money!

No, I would not recommend this product.

I've had this game for a while now and i dont know why i havent sold it or thrown it away because i wouldnt even feel right giving this to anyone. Even if i threw it back on ebay, it wouldnt even be worth running to the post office to sent it out. Dont get me wrong, the graphics, the sounds, the soundtrack, and the story are on point, but the controls are just so bad that it makes it not even worth playing. I even liked the weapon creating system and how you're basically looking in your jacket, but even that wasnt completely executed correctly. The detail that you can go into cars and hotwire or open the glove box or pull down the sun visor and change seats whether its front, back or passenger/driver, is really a cool thing. But again, its out weighed by the damn controls. It is challenging, which is great, but the controls are so poor that it out weighs everything else. When i 1st started the game, i was like "wow", but that faded very quickly and after a few levels, i put the game down, thought "what a shame, this coulda been a great game", and have never played it again. I think people are over picky when i read reviews a lot of the times, but i'm pretty fair, especially since i've played just about every console in history even predating coleco and atari! There are so many proper games out there that this isnt even worth a try to dislike it for yourself. If you do like it, then clearly your gaming experience is highly limited. So basically, this "coulda been great" game...sux!!

The game that could of been

I was expecting alot from this game being a big horror game fan(Resident Evil, Fatal Frame, Silent Hill) but this game really failed to deliver. At first I didn't want to believe the harsh reviews I saw on websites and magazines, but I ended up learning the hard way. This game does have some nice graphics and some new innovative features like the combination of items to make special weapons and devices, but that's about as innovative as it's gonna get. The controls are pretty bad, especially the car scenes.

The story lacks and voice acting is very immature tossing out as many bad words as they can put in the game, dont get me wrong I like my games with girls, violence, and cussing as much as the next but there's a certain way of doing it to make it seem pivotle to the story and not just putting the f-word after every sentence. I like to enjoy my games in my pursuit to beating them, but this one just felt like a chore. If you really are curious about this game as I was, I suggest just renting it, not a good enough game to buy.

An underdog game, good even if with flawed controls

An underdog game, good even if with flawed controls and bugs. It is a pity a patch never came to this game, but it was relatively easy to finish and get all achievements. The PS3 version has all of the problems fixed but, if you don't own that console, get this one cheap now and enjoy one of the most underrated games ever. Its puzzles are always logical and fun and its use of fire is the best I ever seen! Great for survival horror fans and hardcore players in general, even with its flaws!

Alone in the Dark (Xbox 360)

Very nice innovative game from Eden Games and Atari which probably has the best facial graphics I've ever seen in a game (but not the best animations)- somewhat cheesy storyline and odd pacing style, but overall a cool experience to play, reasons being, one can break down doors manually with objects, make Molotovs and some other fun contraptions, hot wire cars, and a ton of other flavors to the game which make it like a perilistic journey of kill or be killed (while figuring out who the hell you are).
