The Asus VH236H has great movie and game performance, built-in speakers, and a headphone jack.
Navigating the Asus VH236H's OSD can be confusing and frustrating, and the display lacks ergonomic options.
The Asus VH236H is a great-performing 23-incher with a welcome low price.

I chose it for its fast 2ms response time, size, price, and brand (Asus is a high quality brand, much better than Acer and Hanspree who sell cheap monitors). Very nice monitor that I plan to use for a pc with tv tuner. The only complaints I have is the stand does not rotate, and the finish is a glossy black instead of solid black (attracts fingerprints). Overall great buy: High Performance for gaming and movies at a good price.
Just purchased this monster of a monitor and I must say that it looks fantastic! The picture is great, very little glare (which allows me to focus on the screen better). I really like the fact that it has an HDMI input along with the VGA and DVI. The HDMI allows me to have my computer and Xbox hooked up at the same time, and switch super easily between the two. Also, I wasn't expecting the monitor to have speakers (which it does have); however, not the best speakers in the world, but I did not buy the monitor for the speakers so I don't really care. The base is very sturdy, and supportive of the huge monitor. No dead pixels, just a big beautiful screen. From my first few uses with this monitor, I already love it, and (if I had the money) I would definitely pony up some more mulah to buy another one in the future! :)
I admit to being an amateur about what monitors are supposed to be great and those that are average. I wanted a widescreen monitor that has internal speakers so that I didn't have other speakers on my desk because I didn't have the room. This monitor was perfect for that. The monitor is thin, the speakers are good for my purposes, which really is for computer programs and some games. The picture is clear, the colors are good. I'm very happy with this monitor. It replaced my old 17 inch monitor, what a difference! I got it for an excellent price as well.
So I got this monitor to one up everyone else in my household who had a computer. I wanted to build mine from scratch and I knew that I had to get a better monitor. My previous Proview 19inch was just not cutting it, it didn't provide the contrast ratio or the response time.
So I set out to find a monitor that I could hook up using my HDMI cable and get the full HD experience if I was watching movies as well as one that could handle my gaming needs. Eventually I came across the Asus VH236H. It has a great contrast ratio and only a 2ms response time! Perfect for what I needed, and it could also play back at a full 1080p.
I can only add that the customer service that I got through ebay was fantastic.
There really isn't anything about the monitor that I don't like, well except the fact that it isn't 3d capable :)
I love this display! The only con I can say is that sometimes I hear an annoying buzzing noise come from the screen...this usually happens when I'm viewing a predominantly white window. Not sure if it's because of the DVI connection I'm using or what, but it's a small price to pay for a good LCD monitor that has built-in excellent speakers.
