This review is written by a middle age man with a resistance to learning new things and would rather have teeth pulled than read an instruction manual.
So, keep this in mind whilst reading my appraisal.
Why did I buy?
Two considerations equally important … Price and Quality. The price of this system is very competitive and the consistently excellent “Feedback” reports where to much to resist further investigation. Next stage was to “Buy & Try”
Why do I like it.?
Many reasons starting with ease of use, the big screen is even big enough for my tired old eyes and the touch screen activation is crisp and precise. The level of information offered is impressive and yet not overwhelming. The software designer I would say has links to the Aero Industry as many of the images appearing on the screen offer a pilots-eye view and during times of no road information or alerts for the driver, the screen will switch to a large plan progress depiction similar to that offered on Airliners (a nice touch)
I must point out that this is not just a SatNav not by any means, I wish I had the space to explain all that this device can offer. Maybe just briefly … MP3 & Video Player, FM Radio, Games Machine with Windows applications are just a few of the things to keep you entertained whilst waiting for your passengers in some dreary old car park. Don’t know how I managed without one ’til now.
What Don’t I like.
Boot up time, However, I haven’t come across a system that boots up quick enough for me and probably never will (remember warning at start) I’m grumpy.
I had two occasions to call Mr Navibuzz the first being “Post Code Entry” simple when you know how and the instructions should cover this and they don’t. The manual is in desperate need of a rewrite. The second occasion concerned a refusal to find its map location stored on a Micro SD Card. Again a simple solution was offered by the ever faithful Mr Navibuzz and I pushed the chip back into its slot “No Problemo”
The after sales service is more than excellent, full! marks
Would I Recommend to Friends?
Yes! I have done as I cannot find a cheaper/better solution to the SatNav dilemma, especially one that offers “Free” map downloads for life. Other systems make you pay dearly for this service, keep this in mind when considering your choice.
The Competition.
This comparison was done against the functionality and price of the TomTom XL Classic and I will not denounce the TomTom as it directed us faithfully for many years. However, it is feeling its age and will be relegated to emergency back-up only in light of the new system. Time will tell if the new system has the build quality of the TomTom but I will not miss that dreadful TomTom software.
Buying Tips.
You will need additional TF Cards to store your maps on should you want to go abroad and Navibuzz is the cheapest I have ever seen for these. He may have a few left if you hurry (only 8gb will suit)
I opted to include the wireless night vision camera in my deal, a wise choice at just £20 more. (not had chance to test camera but looks good)
Good Luck to all. John.howell59 (e-Bay veteran)
I bought this specifically as a rear view camera for reversing my Bentley, which has a long boot.
I was totally amazed by the sat nav, which is stunning, and it works as bluetooth handsfree for my mobile too!
The large 7.5" screen absolutely suits the car and is real quality - wafer thin, razor sharp picture and no crappy chinese graphics on it either. I intend to buy two more for my other cars.
Fantastic value. The only thing I would improve is the size of the rear view camera which is a bit chunky, but I guess a smaller one wouldn't produce such a clear image - full colour too!
No comparison to the others - this has a 7.5" HD screen. Can't recommend this too much - I love it!!
only used the sat nav part this week, excellent range of features better than tom tom in some ways. eg warnings over speed etc .have not connected the wireless camera yet.
good range of fixing for mounting, good size screen.
problem with screen brightness , supplier has suggested different setting so will try next time out manual is not good but the supplier has been most helpful and have downloaded a full manual PDF, and they have replied very quickly with any queries.
micro card put some music on and pictures best way is to create folder first .
it will not replace sat only only system as not fluid screen or it will not replace a tablet.
but value for money especially with wireless camera is excellent
in my opinion you do need a better manual which could be downloaded . service from supplier very good
will keep you posted
Clear mapping, Adaptable features allowing the user to set the navigation screen as they like it. Easy to find addresses and post codes. In a small car if you want to mount it on the windscreen, you may be better off buying the 5 inch model. Free map updates for life, and the GPS cost less than some manufacturers charge for one update! Excellent buy just for the Satnav, not to mention the calculator, games, book reader and music player etc.
I purchased this because i needed a sat nav with a reversing camera i have a w.a.v or wheelchair accessible vehicle and have no rear view because of the wheelchair ramp !
this is a great product and the wireless rear view camera is fantastic , the only gripe i have is the battery life is so bad that you can not really use it for it's intended use , eg: if you play music the battery dies in about one hour , so reading a book is not possible , especially if you intend to use sat nav afterward's i wish the battery could be upgraded 1 .
