Given his magnificent performances in The Ten Commandments and the King and I, this Yul Brynner film unfortunately falls short of epic film proportions. The right elements are there - an interesting Biblical story line, great sets and costumes and a bomshell leading lady in the person of Gina Lollobrigida. Yet the mix clearly falls short and fails to stir any significant interest in the viewer. In the end, the film quite simply falls flat on its face. The scene depicting an easily swayed Jewish crowd stoning the Queen of Sheeba to death can only be described in one word: CHEESEY! But hey, if you want to see Brynner with a head full of hair, this is the movie for you!
I loved Yul Brynner ever since I was a little girl.. I saw him in the king and I on stage and he was amazing then so I love anything he is in! Gina is also beautiful and an excellent actress. Both headline names you will not be disapointed!
This is one of the best Bible movies, right up there with the 10 Commandments and Ben Hur. Yul Brener makes a fantastic Solomon and always brings life to the character he plays. I highly recommend this movie for the entire family.
I haven't seen this movie in years and nearly forgot what Yul Brenner looked like with hair and Gina of course in her days was an attractive woman. I bought this dvd at a good price which adds to my bibical collection.
We love all Biblical movies. God's love is so eternal no mater what the age but we must follow his guidelines. When you don't consciences follow.Everyone needs to go beck to the basics of God's love and unfailing love for us even though we don't deserve it.Thank you
