LOVE her. Super CD. Every song is heartfelt - in words I feel, but can't seem to put together. From start to finish, it shows Adele in alpha mode, ready to outshout any big-mouth singer of the last two decades, from Celine to Christina to (sigh) Whitney.
Since her last cd, 19, Adele has toughened her tone, trimmed the jazz frippery and sounds ready for a pub fight.
My personal favorites are, "One and Only," "Rolling in the Deep," and "Set Fire to the Rain." Check em out!
Leave it to the UK to crank out good albums. A first gem in quite awhile. WTG ADELE! While it's true there isnt much out there I would break my legs to buy a song, let alone a whole album. This lady has talent. A first in a long time. I just bought my copy, but previewed most of the songs long before. I can say they are great. Coming from the progressive rock area, I would consider my self pretty picky, and I find this album worth every penny if you enjoy a little soul with pop, with a country swing. I guess thats why Adele's new album surpassed lady boy Gaga's so called chart topping new album here in the USA. I think this girls going to go far, If you see this Adele, I admire your style keep up the good work.
Her voice doesn't sound as raw on this disc as she did at the Grammys. I hope she quits smoking for her health and voice. There aren't many voices like this. The lyrics are those you would normally expect from someone a lot older, but these songs are about a real failed relationship.
This is the first cd I've bought in so long I can't even remember how long. The production quality is as good as it gets. This is real music by someone who can actually sing. No sampling, cheap synthesizers or loops. Track 11 - Someone Like You - is just her voice and a piano.
After Whitney Houston (same age as me) dying the night before the Grammy's, I started paying attention to Adele's lyrics. This cd is prophetic. God loved America, but America rejected God's love. The one who dies with the most toys doesn't win. The one who wins is the one faithful to relationships.
EXCELLENT!!! Blue eye soul at its best. The disc opens with the smokin' "Rolling In The Deep". The second song however "Rumour Has It" , and the next , "Turnning Tables", are just fair, but don't give up. Keep lisitening. There are GREAT songs to follow.Soul ballads such as, "Don't You remember", "Take It All", "One And Only". The up tempo "I'll Be Waiting" is reminessent of 70's style music of this kind. It ends with the balladof all ballads "Someone Like You". This one sone is worth the entire disc price. This disc is not like her first disc "19". If you liked her first disc, this is even better. If you did not, give this a chance, it will change your mind about Adele. Again, EXCELLENT!
This is a CD full of great songs. I bought it for "Rolling in the Deep" and "I Set Fire to the Rain", but there are so many other songs that I love as well like "Rumour Has It" and "Someone Like You". Adele is a thought provoking poet as well as a soulful singer.
