|Once a common coin, the US Liberty Cap dime is slowly increasing in rarity as time passes by. This 1831 dime was worth ten cents at the time it was minted, but its value is far higher now. In mint or near- mint condition this silver coin still shines brightly despite the wear and tear of the years, allowing collectors to still admire its delicate artwork. Called the US Liberty Cap dime because it featured Lady Liberty wearing a small hat on top of her head, this piece is full of small and startling details. On the reverse side a crouching eagle is perched on a branch bearing a shield made from stars and stripes. The 1831 dime features minute changes from its predecessors that can only be seen by placing the silver coin under a magnifying glass. The eagle's shield bears two pale gules, which are the small vertical lines inside each stripe, a change from the three pale gules of earlier versions. Loved for its beauty, the US Liberty Cap dime is a true investment opportunity for collectors.|
