| "Large and splendid. The saga reaches a new level of emotional impact." -- Chicago Sun-Times "Fast and absorbing...will keep the reader...entranced." -- Publishers Weekly "An exciting, well-written adventure, Jordan offers distinctive heroes and themes, including an interesting look at relations between the sexes." -- Milwaukee Sentinel "A complex tapestry of fascinating characters, descriptive details and events. I highly recommend this series to anyone who loves epic fantasy." --Carol Lynn Ukockis, Galactic Dispatch "Robert Jordan writes with the stark vision of light and darkness, and sometimes childish sense of wonder, that permeates J.R.R. Tolkien's work. His style is undebatably his own." -- The Pittsburgh Press | |

Great book in the Wheel of Time series, by Robert Jordan. Fun to read, and a good vehicle for escape from the usual sci-fi books!
If you've read the first 3 books of this series, and you're wondering if you should keep going: does I can't put it DOWN mean anything?
Personally, I am shocked at how anyone could possible compare Jordan to JRR Toiken's Lotr, other than genre. The ideas and plot that Jordan has created from these such in depth characters just makes you turn page after page. I thought book 1 was great, book 2 even greater, book 3 slowed a little, and book 4 was right back up to speed with books 1 & 2!
This is a great story for anyone who has ever CONSIDERED reading Lord of the Rings. Something for everyone! Great for all ages.
The wheel weaves as the wheel wills as Rand continues his search for allies and answers following the fall of the Stone of Tear. Our heroes separate to pursue what they think are their own goals while one group of friends follow the trail of the Black Ajah. Four of the Forsaken are now dead, but nine remain who have set their eyes on the prize of bringing down the Dragon Reborn. Trouble brews in the tower as we see the flight of a new set of characters chasing freedom and revenge. Join the pattern as the final battle between light and shadow draws nearer.
This is probably the best book of the entire WOT series. Hooked from cover to cover! I can't wait for the next installment (Book 12).
This book gives much more information about the Aiel and Rand's connection to them. The only unfortunate thing is that the majority of the book revolves around this theme. Tantalizing new threads are started with Elayne, Nynaeave, and Perrin. This book advances the original story lines, introduces new ones, as well as a whole new Society with it's own rules, and new interesting characters. It makes you want to continue the series.
