Movie synopsis

When the wicked Cruella de Vil and her henchmen kidnap Dalmatian puppies for their cherished spotted fur, it is up to the puppies' parents, Pongo and Perdita, and some brave farm animals, to free the caged canines. Though 101 DALMATIANS has fewer songs than many of its animated brethren, the essential musical number "Cruella de Vil" is as much fun as any 10 tracks. Based on the book by Dodie Smith, this Walt Disney animated classic spawned the 1996 live-action remake, as well as a sequel called 101 DALMATIANS II: PATCH'S LONDON ADVENTURE.

Review For: 101 Dalmatians (VHS, 1992)
While it may not be the best of the Disney animated films, 101 Dalmatians is a fun ride! The combination one of the best villans, and a great voice cast, and classic Disney animation makes this movie great. What could have been a dull, average story has been done so well here that I'll watch it a dozen times with my kids and never complain!

Appropriate movie for all!

Created: 09/12/07
Review For: 101 Dalmatians (VHS, 1992)
This is a nice movie- appropriate for all ages. For the adults, the plot is not quite as well developed / interesting as some of the more recent Disney movies, but sometimes that's the trade off to get something that is truly appropriate for young children. Also, not a lot of music / songs in this one. There is just one to be exact, the Cruella DeVille song.

When Pongo, the dog, looks out his window and sees Perdita being walked by her owner it is love at first sight. Thankfully for them, dog owners Roger and Anita fall in love too. Soon after they marry, Pongo and Perdita become the proud parents of 15 dalmation puppies. But when Anita's old friend, the fur-coat-obsessed Cruella DeVille, finds out she quickly arranges a dognapping! It is up to Pongo and Perdita to rescue thier puppies before Cruella can make coats out of them.

Be aware that the plot gets kind of intense toward the end and may be scary for some young children. Also there is some name calling- just about all the adults in the film call Roger an "idiot" at some point or another. Sometimes it is in jest and sometimes not. Pretty mild by today's standards, I suppose...

Review For: 101 Dalmatians (VHS, 1992)
This is one of those great disney films we all grew up on. I absolutly love everything about this film, from the sweet double love story (man meet woman falls in love, Dog meets dog falls in love) To the evil Cruella de'ville and her plot to make a fur coat out of the skin of 101 dalmation puppies... If anyone else made this it would be a very scary movie -- with disney it's fun for the whole family.

101 Dalmations (1992)

Review For: 101 Dalmatians (VHS, 1992)
Definitely a Disney classic. It expresses to children that no matter what, their parents will go to no length to help (and/or find) their children to keep the family intact. My children have the entire set of Disney movies and when this was "eaten" by the VCR, we just had to replace it. It's still nice to know that there are family favorites that the children can enjoy without you worrying what is in their collection. A true family favorite that should be seen again and again.
