Top 10 most intriguing high-priced items

Today we are featuring ten of the most intriguing highest priced items (over $20,000)  sold on eBay last week.  Please note this a sample of high-value items on eBay. This is by no means a comprehensive list, but it is a representative list.

Without further ado, in ascending order by price:

#10 - $21,000 - Say the name Larry Bird and any true Celtics basketball fan will perk up.  Show them this 2008 NBA World Champions Boston Celtic Emerald Diamond Red Auerbach Ring and they will fondly remember Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, and Paul Pierce, and the feeling of "getting the job done right!"

Of course, it could be the lucky buyer just has a thing for emerald Shamrocks.  Who are we to judge?

#9 - $23,000 (Best offer accepted) - When I first saw the listing for this 2014 POLARIS RZR XP 1000 "CUSTOM" I had to admit, I had not idea what it was - so I had to look it up.

The Polaris is a UTV (Utility Track Vehicle), sometimes called a ROV (Recreational Off highway Vehicle).  As you can tell from the picture, it is a small, 4-wheel drive off-road vehicle, and this one was absolutely loaded.  Read the description, and you'll see.

#8 - $23,500 - I have been writing this Top 10 list for years, but this is the first meteorite ever to make the list.  And this one is extreme in many ways, weighing over 74 pounds, and described as a Gibeon Meteorite:

The meteorite was confirmed as being of extra-terrestrial origin back in 1839, and was apparently found near Gibeon, Namibia, South-West Africa.

#7 - $25,000 - As a comic collector myself, I always perk up when a comic makes this list. Sure, we've seen Amazing Fantasy make the list, but this is another first, a copy of this The Incredible Hulk #181 from 1974:

The very high 9.8 grading of this book is probably what made this comic so valuable. My comics, on the other hand, are now being enjoyed by my kids - anything that was even close to a 9.8 is more like a 4.0 at this point!

#6 - $29,500 (Best offer accepted) - Seems everyone I know is getting engaged or married these days--love is in the air leading up to Valentine's Day. Receiving this Tiffany & Co Platinum Lucida Cut Diamond Solitaire Ring is sure to have made some lucky lady very, very happy:

Aside from it being from Tiffany's, it sports a 2.19ct Lucida square cut diamond with extremely high clarity and cut.

#5 - $32,000 - Unless you have kids of a certain age, the term Magic the Gathering means nothing. My kids, on the other hand, have been steeped in knowledge about MTG cards, and fell over themselves when I told them about this MTG Collection including Power 9 and most sets from revised 4 times:

The photo is not much to look at, but any true MTG fan would be enthused to receive this as a very special gift.

#4 - $32,250 (Best offer accepted) - eBay first auction happened when Pierre Omidyar sold a broken laser pointer on his site, at the time called AuctionWeb. Non-working items are still sold on eBay for parts or refurbishment, such as this LOT 200 Psion Teklogix 7535 G2 Mono Screen 58 Key Barcode Scanner Data Collector:

What someone would do with a lot of broken barcode scanners is completely beyond me, but then again, I wouldn't have started a website to sell a broken laser pointer either.

#3 - $58,000 - We've seen food trucks make this list, and we've seen vintage Airstreams make this list. But this is the first Airstream Food truck ever:

I love the look of this - if you want to see more photos of the inside and outside, take a look at the original listing.

#2 - $86,000 (Best offer accepted) - Intriguing. This Very Large Beautiful German Dresden Porcelain Figurine Standing Palace Clock has no real description to speak of, other than to repeat the title, give dimensions, and of course, show some photos:

That didn't stop the buyer from putting down quite a large amount of money to acquire it, though.

#1 - $120,000 - There were many other cars sold that could have made the list, but the photo of this 1959 Chevrolet Impala Convertible is what caught my eye, and I knew it had to be the #1 most intriguing item:

You can see many other photos on the original listing, such as this one of the interior of the car:

According to the listing, the Impala received a full body off restoration by the previous owner with no expense spared.  It shows!
