In a battle of the engines, you want your truck to pack real power. The Mopar 360 engine is part of Chrysler's LA series, which comprises pushrod gasoline engines. The 360 is a 5.9-liter engine, released in 1971, which has a two-barrel carburetor. Its Mopar 360 intake features port 340 heads together with a 1.88-inch valve. After a series of upgrades in 1974, the 360 became the most powerful LA engine, and further improvements over the years added the power that made the Li'l Red Express truck the fastest American-made vehicle from 0 to 100 mph from 1978 to 1979. If you own an original Dodge van or truck made after 1980, you may be lucky enough to have a Mopar 360 under the hood. Although the 360 offers solid performance, you can make it even better by replacing the Mopar 360 headers to produce more horsepower.
