About Manx Dune Buggy
When you have Manx mania, you just have to hop in your buggy and hit the beach. The Manx dune buggy grew from Californian beach boy culture and went on to be a success in off-road racing. Creator, Bruce Meyers, took the tiny cars with giant wheels favored by Mickey Mouse as his inspiration. Using his skills with fiberglass from shaping surfboards, he created a more efficient dune buggy that makes excellent use of the VW Beetle chassis. With all the weight over the rear end, the VW floorplan offers excellent traction, allowing it to skim over sandy terrain. The classic VW dune buggy is fun to drive, with space on the front fender to hold a couple of drinks when you stop to soak in the sun. If you want a more serious looking vehicle, check out the sand rail dune buggy, which has a skeletal chassis that makes it even more lightweight. You can find a complete Manx dune buggy on eBay or the raw components that allow you to build a unique vehicle that skips across the sand.
