About Honda Prelude H22 Engine
The Honda Prelude H22 engine base horsepower continues to put modern mechanical limits to the test. This engine manages a 100 horsepower-per-liter feat and puts the Honda Prelude chassis on the map. Although the Honda Prelude ended production in 2001, the engine is still widely recognized as Honda's big block. H22 engines are commonly used in swaps on lighter chassis such as the Honda Civic, Honda Accord, and Acura Integra. The block and head are both cast aluminum; the internals use fiber-reinforced metal sleeves, which manage well against high-powered turbocharging applications. The JDM Honda Prelude engine, known as the H22A, manages 217 horsepower to the crank. The JDM engine uses aggressive camshafts, which increase the compression ratio from 10.6:1 to 11.0:1. The intake and exhaust manifold are also modified for better air circulation and the engine also features a special LSD transmission that manages to direct the power to the ground more efficiently than the standard 5-speed gearbox.
